After installing SP3 v3264, I cannot launch MSTSC - remote desktop connection keep saying that the pre-release version has expired and have to download new version.

I went to microsoft website and they do not have any newer version of RDC or SP3 RC2.

anyone having this issue??? i tried copying the rdc file from a different computer but it wont help. only solution so far is removing SP3 which is not a good solution..

Er, I'm confused ... Build 5512 was the RTM build number. Build 3264 was a refresh of Release Candidate 1 dating from November/December last year, a beta test version (and thus definitely pre-release and definitely well out of date)

I had this note from Microsoft about this problem.

"reminder, everyone who installed the Release Candidate that you must uninstall any Release Candidate builds (any build less than 6.0.6001.18000) before they expire on June 30. After this date, the kernel will stop with an END_OF_NT_EVALUATION_PERIOD error message an hour after the machine has booted. If you do wait until after June 30, just reboot your PC and start the uninstall process right away.

For more information on how to uninstall and other issues that beta testers might encounter, please see the posting in the Technet SP1 forum at:"

Whoops, I've mixed Vista and XP again, but the point is the same, uninstall the old version and download or update to the correct Service Pack.
