I'm using Impromptu 7.1529. I have a report that is running perfectly and I want to make a copy of it to use for a different group of companies. My problem is even after I have changed the filter to select only the companies that I want, I still have the other group embedded in the SQL and the report won't run correctly. How do I edit what is being shown in the Profile\SQL View? I have tried clearing the filter (deleting everything in it). I still get only the original group.

Cathy,

Was the report created or modified using direct edit of the SQL? This is normally the only way you would get a filter in the SQL that is not also in either the filter tabs or the table joins. You can tell by the appearance of the report query dialog. Only a small number of tabs appear and your options with them are limited compared to a normal report.

Dave,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but I took Friday off. No, when the report was created I just used the normal filter to create the query. I've only been using Impromptu since July and I haven't gotten too adventurous. That's why I can't figure out why the filter is embedded in the SQL.

Hi Cathy

Are you sure all of the filtering is taking place on the report and not specified in the catalog or table joins ?

Have you checked there isn't a summary filter on the report ?

Thanks Gary. It was in a summary filter. I don't know enough about Impromptu to have put it there, but somehow it must have put itself there when I selected not to show the detail lines. I'll have to remember this for future reports. It's much easier to write it for one group and then copy it for the next group.

Hi Cathy

Glad you got it sorted, but just to let you know either you or some other user must have entered the summary filter as Impromptu wouldn't create filters under any circumastance.
