I have been reloading 2.01 using the advice I have found here [Thank you so much so far, Knob]and am now at the stage where I have matched all the setup criteria with another PC running 2.01 but when I hit a key after initialization and see the 'Procomm Plus ready' screen there are what looks like Programming characters moving across the screen until the screen fills up and cursor keeps going.

The only difference I can ascertain anywhere in the details of the 2 setups is that the existing PC [that works] shows
'38,400 N81' on the welcome screen [after initialization]and the one I cannot get to work shows '57,600 N81'. This looked to me like the program was trying to grab both the 'F' [19200 baud] and 'G' [38400 baud] Modem Connect Messages on the Modem Relult Messages setup utility so I set 'F' to '0' with no difference.

I would really appreciate any ideas or input,

Thanks

Ron

What do the characters look like? Are you using a modem or a direct connection? Have you tried lowering the speed, say down to 19200 or so? Not sure of what the problem is off the top of my head since it's been a long time since I've looked at the DOS program, but hopefully your answers will give us something to work with.

Thank you for responding so quickly -

1]The characters look like 'programming script' to me [I am guessing] .. backward 'L' .. double quotation marks ...circle with a line through it ... '=' sign .. 'e' with an accent mark over it
2] I am using a direct connection to a Telephone Answering Service [TAS] application - we've been using this system and terminal emulation with no problems for 8 years now.
3] I have not tried lowering the speed [as the connection is direct] .. the baud speeds [as well as all other settings] are identical with the PC beside this one.

The last few days I tried loading Procomm from the original disks and was getting nowhere with applying the speed patch [to slow the 400 mgh PC down] so I downloaded a prepatched copy of Pcplus from a spot I found when I read your answer to someone else's question in this forum. That has brought me to this point. Thhere are no other application running on this PC that can screw this up because we run a callcentre and the operators can't have constant crashes so I have eliminated the problem causers for DOS like 'findfast', etc.

Maybe what I can do is to take a screen shot of the programming characters and E-mail it directly to you if this is OK with you?? Please let me know ..

I appreciate your attention to this....

Ron

Ron, feel free to mail the screen shot to me. My address is aspect@aspectscripting.com.
