Problem with PCMCIA network card under kernel 2.4.x

I'm running (or still setting up is more accurate) a laptop (Toshiba Satelite 4090CDS) with Debian 3.0.1.
Using the kernel that's installed as default I can't use X or my USB mouse, both of which SHOULD work if I can get a 2.4.x kernel running.
When installing a 2.4.x kernel (tried .18 and .21) my PCMCIA network card no longer works (booting the 2.2.20 kernel it works perfectly).

Card is a Dynalink L100C32, recognised by the 2.2.20 kernel and configured as "Digital DS21143 tulip rev 65", which works fine.

Fixed it by buying a new network card.
I guess the 2.4 drivers for the old one were broken in some way, these ones work fine.

Not much help here, sorry. I have the same situation with my (blow the dust off this one) Gateway Solo 2200 P166MMX/56MB with 2 Linksys pcmcia cards in it, also running Debian Stable (not sure what the version is anymore, that's how rock solid and dependable Debian is ;-) </flamebait>). I can not get the 2.4.x pcmcia stuff to play nice at all. So I just stick with 2.2.x.

Not a solution, but hey, misery loves company right? :)

How are those cards loaded under the 2.2 kernel? If using the same driver as my Dynalink that's the problem right there I guess.

The PCMCIA itself works fine, it's just that the card is never loaded on top of it...
With your hardware you likely have no need for the USB support only the 2.4 kernel provides properly so you likely won't need the 2.4 kernel.

Good luck :)
