Hi,
I try develop universal PCL USB driver for version 5 and heigher, all works fine in version PCL 5, PCL 5c, but in version PCL 5e print take about few minutes!

Why??

Communication (double send ESC commands does not affect):

Thanks!

Don't understand your questions!

PCL5 was the original post-PCL4 version of the PCL Page Description Language (PDL), but is now just an umbrella term for versions of that PDL.

PCL5e was originally an 'enhanced' version of PCL5, for monochrome devices.

All modern PCL5 printers 'support' PCL5e, although few (if any?) will support every defined escape sequence.
The language specification is such that a printer should just ignore any escape sequence which it does not recognise (provided that the format is valid).

PCL5c is the variant of PCL5e which supports colour extensions.
Most monochrome printers will print a PCL5c print job, albeit using greyscale rather than colour.

How are you distinguishing between these variants?

Don't understand your point.

But what is pertinent about this job?

... and what printer model(s) are you using for your tests?

Thanks for reply.

I know it and it is reason why a wrote this question.

Some printers have written that support PCL 5, some PCL 5e and some PCL 5c (priters documentation).

Printers which support standards PCL 5 and PCL 5c print fine, but printers with standard PCL 5e do not print fine (print take over few minutes).

But why?

Some differences between PCL 5 and PCL 5e?

Thanks. PCL communitation

I mean that some ESC command are doubled - it is should not be and I correct it, but it does not affect.

But what is pertinent about this job?

Yes, more cleared then HEX or ASCII output.

I suspect that the differences are with printer models, rather than the very imprecisely defined PCL5, PCL5c and PCL5e 'standards'.
What printer models are you using for tests?

I note from your PCLCodes analysis of a sample job that you are specifying values of 300 for both 'PCL units-per-inch' and 'raster resolution'.

I suspect that some modern devices will take longer to process the print stream in these circumstances, since they will have to 'upscale' raster images to the native resolution (usually 600 dots-per-inch, sometimes 1200 dpi).

If you supply the original print stream (C:\Users\kubins\Desktop\data.pcl), other responders may be able to try it with their printers, and provide comparative timings.
