Hi Folks,

My knowledge of photoshop would not be exactly proficient but I have read a lot of tutorials, etc. I have a problem at the moment. I am trying to create a line to represent a piece of thread. Basically, I have it in my head to do something like a sine curve but much shallower. I used the pen tool to create a path with pretty much what i wanted. However, when I right click on the path name to apply a stroke, the option to stroke path is greyed out. How do I get that activated. what am i doing wrong?

In Photoshop select your line. Often magic Wand is easiest for selecting a solid color line.

In Path pallette, create new Work Path from selection. Double click on the Work Path in the Path palette. Give it a name if you like in the popup window. All options will now be available - like stroke.

I am using Photoshop 7. I have tried selecting the brush tool first and not selecting it first. Either way the stoke path option is not available.

I replicated your idea of the line using both the pencil tool and brush tool (set to 100% hardness), and did exactly as I described in my first post, selecting with the magic wand. I then stroked either with a 12 pt stroke using the brush as teh stroke tools in Stroke popup window.
