Hi,

I have created a user on NIS master and now the user is trying to change the passwd on a specific box which is client to this NIS master. But he is getting error that yppasswd daemon is not running on NIS master when he tries to change the passwd. I did check ypdaemon on master and slave, everything looks ok. I could not find out the problem why he is getting when he tried to change his passwd?
Let me know if anybody have any ideas.

Thanks

Is the yppasswdd daemon running on the master?

Yes yppasswdd daemon is running in master as well as on slave.

I don't use NIS myself, but does

ypcat passwd

or

ypcat passwd.byname

still work?

Also

ypwhich -m passwd

will give the name of the NIS master for the passwd file. Can you still connect to that NIS master?
