Hi

Please can anyone help me. I am fairly new to Paint Shop Pro, but have a major problem... I cannot seem to add colour to text no matter how hard I try. I have throughly followed the instructions in the booklet (countless times) that came with the CD for adding colour or editing text, but the text keeps remaining unchanged, and the instructions are vague to say the least.

From what I know Paint Shop Pro seems to have two 'layers', vector and raster. (I am not entirely sure what the difference is, but in a Vector layer the text can be 'supposedly' edited more freely) I have tried adding colour to text when the text is in a 'vector' layer, and when that didn't work after trying countless times I tried converting the layer to a 'raster' layer, and neither seem to make any difference.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as adding colour to text should really be a very simple task.

Thank you.

To choose a color for your text, use the Background and Fill Properties Box.

You will find it at the right of the workspace. It is the second large colored box.

Click on the large colored box to open the Material dialog box. Click on the Color tab and then choose a color for your text from the Color Picker.

Click OK.

That should do it.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Hi thanks for your answer. I have tried exactly that, using the foreground colour square on the material pallet but the text always stays the same. When I open up (expand) the vector layer and highlight the text object I'm trying to add colour to, I right click on the text object and select 'edit text' - this brings up the text box with the actual text in it. This is all fine. I highlight the text in the box, then select a colour from the materials pallet, click OK but the text stays the same always. I have tried numerous other ways of adding colour to the text but nothing seems to work. I'm sure the problem must be very simple, because putting colour to text can't be this hard. Has anyone any ideas or solutions, and has anyone had this problem before?

Thank you for any help.

I've only got the demo version of PSP8. The handling of text seems a lot less intuitive than in was in PSP7, though I suppose I'll get used to it.

To change the colour of (vector) text:
[ul]
[li]Choose the Object Selector tool (bottom most button in the tools pallette, looks like a mouse pointer in a box)[/li]

[li]Double-click on the text - a pop-up box appears labelled "Text Entry"[/li]

[li]Now the counter-intuitive bit: Change the colours using the materials pallette now, without closing the pop-up box. You'll find it changes the text's properties.[/li]
[/ul]
There is a PSP forum here, forum446 , which you should use if you have further queries.
