This just started yesterday - whenever we try to place an image on the Pagemaker document, an error occurs: "PM65.exe - The exception unknown software exception (0x0000017) occurred in the application at location 0x77fb1414. Click to terminate program."

We've been using this version of Pagemaker for a couple of years on this machine without any problems. I've scanned for viruses and swept for malware, adware, and spyware. I've uninstalled Pagemaker, manually cleaned the registry of any references to it, and reinstalled it but still no joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Have you installed *any* new software (update, printer driver, anything) or opened the PC to even look at the hardware?

If you are not running PM6.52, then install the updates from (Note the date - 1997 - this very old software.)

You could try altering the display rez or reducing the Hardware acceleraton - Desktop - > Secondary Moues Button -> Properties - Settings -> Display -> Troubleshoot, but this is a guess.

unknown software exception (0x0000017)
I can't find any reference to that error mesage, sorry.

I've scanned for viruses and swept for malware, adware, and spyware.
You could run HijackThis 1.99.1 and post your findings in or forum760.
