In some reports, the counter is showing Page X to Page X+, where X is the number of the page in view. What I need to see is the number of the last page in the report. There appears to be no limit set. Itcan happen when the number of pages is say, 24 or 500.

The x to x+ is a feature to improve performance - to calculate the total number of pages requires all pages to be formatted which could take some time (subreports etc)
If you need to display it, just add Page X of Y to the report or reference totalpagecount in a formula - this will force crystal to calculate the number of pages.
It's best to do this after you've finished designing the report.
