Hello everybody, I'm new and I have a problem :)
I am the IT person at a small company and since i got here I have been really getting these guys in technical shape. Now they havve gone through like 4 billing softwares over the last 5 years and 1 of them is dos based and it's called "EZBILL" the company shutdown and left without a trace in fear that they wouldn't have the funds to deal with Y2k (lol wow). Anywho when migrating them to a server based environment i moved over "EzBill" and I created a shortcut to it on one of the 98 Machines. Anywho on to the real problem. When I formatted that 98 Machine and installed XP it wouldn't work anymore, I keep getting a "Sharing violation" error with 2 different .DAT files. Now i have one of (the last) Windows 98 pcs and its able to run it. I have tried Compatibility mode and it didnt help. I am gonna keep doing more research but the internet is yielding me no results and as I said the company hi-tailed it 3 or 4 years ago without leaving a tech support line or anything.

ShankarJ :) thanks for your reply I am checking both those sites out now. Pardon my ignorance but what are "oplocks" :( If you hadn't noticed I really dont know much about clarion at all.

...after 5mins ....

Wow this clarion foundry might hold the key to my problems :) Tomorrow when I go in I am gonna try one of the registryt changes it suggests. Tho I don't know if it the post I was reading didnt seem to clear as if the solution proposed is to fix a problem he was having with his compiler or to fix his app not working after it was compiled. I'll look it over tomorrow.

Hey is there anyway I can find out what version of Clarion it is using or was compiled under? because it has some Clarion DB utils?

Clarion supports multiple database formats - dbase, btrieve, etc AND it has two proprietary database formats - CLARION & TOPSPEED.

If the files are with an extension of .DAT and there are files of the pattern <filename>.K*, then the file type is CLARION.

If the files have an extension of .TPS, they are TOPSPEED files. But using the .TPS extension is not a mandatory requirement, it is the default i.e. I can have TOPSPEED files with any extension.
