I have a client that is moving from IBM AIX to Sun Solaris. He has multiple OKI printers. Printing works fine from AIX, but from Solaris there is no form feed between one print job and the next. Anyone have any suggestions?

ensure that your Cu installes latest lp driver patches, thiese fix a lot of problems! ;-)
what solaris Version does your Cu run?
is FF missing when printing ASCII Files only or is it missing, too, when they print PostScript?
If Solaris Version is 2.6 or higher use the Script in Appendix A in this link to create a remote printing queue

Hi Franz

THe printers are OKI dot matrix connected to HP JetDirectEx Plus print servers. The customer is running Solaris 9 and we have installed all the latest recommended patches. The printer we are testing is setup as a netowrk printer, so is using the netstandard interface file. We are just printing ASCII, no postscript. Are you suggesting we set the printers up as remote as opposed to network?

Thanks

Richard

no, networked printer is fine (using netstandard interface)

Do these OKI Printers print PostScript? I suggest to set the InputType to Postscript, afaik. PS printers do not have the "last page missing FF" problem.

a wild hack: if OKI Printers do not print PS you can write a psfilter, which adds n newlines (n is the number of newlines to get a full page). Here is an infodoc from Sun how to write a simple filter

Best Regards, Franz
