I have a customer who has a small LAN network of all Dell/Dimension desktop computers running Windows XP Pro. They all have Intel video chipsets. The computers all seem to sporadically change bit depth and resolution to (4 bit).
There are no programs running that require 4 bit and no events that should initiate the change. The drivers have reinstalled on all of the machines and the problem continues.
Is there a known bug, spyware, virus etc. that could cause this behavior? We can't locate any processes that are suspicious and have run Norton, Ad-Aware, Webroot, HiJack this and others. We came up with nothing and are using heuristic scanning as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.
