Problem with my new PC and photoshop please help

i built this new pc and ive installed max 7, maya 6, zbrush and all these programs and they run fine, but all my versions (6.0, 7.0 & CS) of photoshop seem to freeze up when i use the brush tool or import images. it freezes up for about 15-25 seconds then you can continue to use the brush again for a short period of time then it will freeze up again and so on. all my versions of photoshop work on my other computers but its only this one thats giving me this problem,...... anyone know how i can fix this???

the new specs are
3ghz p4
win xp pro sp2
1 gb ram

Hmmm... have you checked your task manager for avail memory when your system freezes up?

Have a look at Edit > Preferences > Memory and Image Cache and have a look at what your memory usage is set to. Though if you've uninstalled and re-installed different versions I doubt it is. Worth a try though.
