Ok i have 9 movie instances in my library-9 clips of animated text. What i need is for line one -or movie 1 to play its animated text, stop on the last frame and below it start movie 2 to display its text and so on and so on. I'm a newbie so im lost. If I put the movie instances on seperate keyframes none of them play. If I put them all in one keyframe they all just start at the time. All I want is for one line to display-stay there and the next line below it to display...until all nine lines are done loading and everything stopped. Like this...
Play this movie and stop
Then play this movie and stop
And then play this movie and stop
etc etc.
Now if i did this without making the animations into theyre own seperate movie instances I think it would be easy- but I created the animated text in swish and when I bring it into flash I can't move it without messing up the animations. So I turned them all into their own movie clips. Someone please help!!!! Thanks

Have you thought of 9 scenes in one movie?

Yes I have -but if there are 9 scenes itll be hard to align and position the sentances. I figured out a way to do it-if say I edit the second clip to start on frame 40 (each line is 20 frames) and put a stop action on each last frame-so i would insert 40 blank frames on the third clip etc. I jsut did a tutorial on the tell target action which i understand as to how to target parts of clips -i could just name the instance of the second movie and say tell target-the name-to play on the last frame of the first movie-just not sure if I can make the second movie NOT play until the first one is over- maybe if i said on the first frame of the frst movie to tell target to stop -o that wont work -i guess ill just add the blank frames to each movie so that the whole thing will be 180 frames-not bad and it works! thanks

Hey pa902! This is for you!
Have a look at this:

This uses 4 different instances (of two movies - hey adapt it to 9!) on stage mixed with Tell Targets. Gears 2 & 3 are on different layers than gear 1, but gear 4 is called by a tell target on the same layer as gear 1. Try the roll over button(tell targets)... Gear 2 stops, on continuous press gear 3 stops. If you're interested, I'll make the fla available, so you can have a look at it.

It's a bit heavy... 400kb, 'cause of 3d objects, and no preloader... So it might take you a while to download, but I think it's worth it!
