Hi,

Running 9i enterprise on my laptop (Windows XP Pro). All things run fine until the laptop goes into standby mode.

When brought out of standby, I get an error connecting to enterprise manager, sqlplus or even doing a tnsping - I get an ORA-12541:TNS:no listener error.

This error persists even if I stop and restart the listener service. I seem to be only able to get it working again by rebooting the laptop.

Any advice how to solve this issue would be most appreciated (other than turning off the standby functionality).

Thanks in advance

After further investigation have a little more info on the issue.

Ran the LSNRCTL /status/stop/start etc and it seems I actually have a protocol adapter error which is causing the listener to fail.

This appears to be an undocumented feature of Windows in coming out of standby and probably trying to bring up bluetooth, wireless and regular LAN connectivity.

Still happy for any advice if anyone has found a way around this issue.

Thanks again

Dontcha just love Windows' 'undocumented features'? Sorry I can't help, but felt compelled to comment ;-)

One step closer....

It seems that if the enterprise manager console is left up and running when XP goes into standby, there is no problem. If it is down when it goes to standby, then the listener/adapter fails. What is the service that needs to be running to have the console available?

In 10g it is OracleDBConsole<SID> service
or can be launched through \..\bin\emctl.bat

Any ideas?

Thanks
