I have 650 Ft of 12 strand 50/125 laser enhanced MM OM3 fiber connecting 2 Dell Powerconnect 6248P switches with 10GbE uplink modules and 10GbE SFP modules (Dell Part Number 330-2405). The connection works great with all fiber strands; no problems. I purchased 2 additional Dell 6248P switches and 2- 1GB SFP modules (Dell part number 320-2881) to utilize 2 of the strands for another application. I can’t get the connection between the switches to work utilizing the 1Gb transceivers; it only works with the 10Gb modules and transceivers. The switches and 1Gb transceivers work great over older OM1 62.5/125 fiber. Thank you in advance.

If it is any help, I think the 330-2405 uses 1320nm light, while the 320-2881 uses 850nm light

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Thank you both for your comments. To add to the mystery: The 1GB transceivers link up with a 15 ft 10G laser enhanced patch cable with the exact same specs as the underground 650 ft cable
The specs for both dell transceivers are the same except the 10G operates at 1310 nm and the 1GB at 850 nm. According to dell, both use VCSEL's
