Hi

Trying to save costs, the technican decided to install the IBM PCI graphics card on pSeries 6E1. I installed the required AIX 4.3.3 device PCI before installing the card and it came out as installation successful. Then we installed the card and started the server, it hung with 0581 error message.

Can anyone tell me what it means and what should we do?

We haven't connect it to graphical monitor yet.

Thanking you all in advantage.

Regards

K

i think you are saying you are using a PC card in an RS6K? pretty sure that's your problem: incompatible hardware.

IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

Display Value 581
Explanation Progress indicator. TCP/IP is being configured.
System Action The configuration method for TCP/IP is being run. If an irrecoverable error occurs, the system halts.
User Action If the system halts with this value, go to "Hardware Diagnostics" in in AIX Problem Solving Guide and Reference . If these procedures find a problem, report the problem to your hardware service organization. Otherwise, report the problem to your software service organization, and then stop. You have completed these procedures.
