Problem with IBM drives

We have been using Seagate ST39236LC (PN 9n3011-022) to put our HP OS on. We recently got IBM ST39236LC (PN 9n3011-035) drives. The drives differ by 87 MB. We have scripts that make a bootable HP drive off of a tape. My scripts give no errors, but when I try to boot the IBM drive, it doesn't work. Has anyone ran into this yet. I've tried running commands by hand and am getting no out of the ordinary warning messages.
