I have a Pavilion dv7 Laptop from hp WITH vista OS.Whenever I leave the computer on, it suddenly load a slide show all by itself, including a very attractive way of changing te slides; including 6 or 7 ways of altering the way it changes the slides; be it horizontally
------------------------------
old slide,dissolving
..............................
new slide, getting bigger

And I cannot duplicating this; Now I just don't know if this is done by Wista, by HP or some other program.

Could you shed some light on this behaviour, I find this o strange. However I findj ths way it changes the slides hori-zontally very attractive and I would like to duplicate this for my slie shows.

Thank you very much or your help.
Charles.

Sounds like you might have accidentally started a QuickPlay slide show. See if your Pavilion has a back-lit, top-row, button that has something that looks like a cross between a Q and a mutant circle. If you haven't messed-up the pre-installed software, that will bring up QuickPlay, which does a lot of media chores. I'm not quite sure why HP went to the trouble because it mostly duplicates existing Windows functionality; maybe because they advertised it as a "Media Center" PC.

Under Personalization/ Screen Saver, see if you have applied a Theme to your Slide Show of Photos (Screen Saver)?

"Apply a slide show theme to your screen saver.

Click the Use this theme list, and then click the theme you want to use.

Notes
You can apply any of several themes to your screen saver to display the pictures and videos in different ways. Some themes fill the screen with one picture at a time, while other themes arrange several on screen at once.

Not all slide show themes will work with all computers. If the screen saver can't run with a selected theme, it usually means that your computer's video card is not powerful enough to support the theme.

cgkeller,

Did you ever find the source, find out what this was? Just curious.
