I'm having a problem with my group policy in the area of software roll out.
looks like every thing else from the group policy is applying except for the software roll out for example, office and adobe.
every time a client machine tries to pull the group policy i get this error

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2f340-016d-11d2-945f-ooc4fb984f9}, CN=System,DC=hs,DC=atafordpas,DC-org. The file must be present at it's location
<\\hs.atafordpas.org\sysvol\hs.atafordpas.org\policies\
{31B2f340-016d-11d2-945f-ooc4fb984f9}\gpt.ini>. (access is denied.) Group Policy processing aborted

Anyone have any idea what's going on with this thing?

Your probably not going to like this answer, but I ran into the same problem. It was a nightmare to fix.

My guess is you are receiving 1030 and 1058 erros message in you Event logs. It could be any one of a number of different reasons for the problem. It's usually a "rights" issue or a DNS issue.

Start here:

Then try this:
You have to redirect the path of the policy in the DC

download the support tool from windows server 2003 cd - suptools.msi.

Then; start -->all programs -->windows support tools --> command; type Adsiedit.msc

1- Expand the first folder (domain)
2- And the next one go to CN=SYSTEM expand it
3- Go to CN=Policies expand it
4- Right click each folder of the policies click properties and search for gPCFileSysPath press edit and add the server name before the domain name do it for the remain policies folders.

make sure have all the latest SPs applied.

Good luck,
Bill

thanks bill for the tips, i will try them tomorrow.
