I recently bought a Chaintech GeForce FX 5200. My computer/monitor does not seem to detect it. That is, the monitor does not kick on and the PC does not appear to fully boot. My mobo is an Abit KT7E and I am currently running a GeForce 2.

Any help/suggestions would be greatlt appreciated.

Some other things to try:

Enter your BIOS setup, in the Chipset Features Setup, for
something called the AGP Driving Value.
This value controls the timing of the AGP driver in
Windows. The value you place here can make AGP4X stable.
This value is a hex value from 00-FF.
In order to place a value here you might need to change
another BIOS setup feature called the AGP Driving Control.
This should appear with the AGP Driving Value.
Set this to MANUAL.
Try setting this value to DA or EA. Try DA for a VIA Apollo Pro 133A motherboard. On a KT133(yours)
motherboard you might want to try E7.
Save your options and reboot your machine.
If not running fine go back into the BIOS Setup and try another value.

I have a similar issue. I bought a PNY Verto 5200 AGP card for my Compaq 5WV270 and my comp is not recognizing it at all (amber monitor lght, flared comp activity that dies after a few seconds, fans blow). What I am wondering is, is this card compatible with my system? First of all, how do I determine that my MB has AGP 2.0? Secondly, I have not found the options you mentioned in my BIOS. Am I accessing it correctly? I just want a graphics card that has good performence and is trouble free. So far, I aint doing so good. If there is another card that would be mroe compatible and offer good gaming graphics capabilities, what would that be? I was thinking about the ATI Radeon 8500 128mb...

Sorry this post may be confusing, I am not so great with computers. Thanks for any answers,
M.G.

supdog ! Consumer pc's like HP , Compaq , Toshiba and
other brands of ready made pc's has sometimes a very limited bios compared tp peaple thet buy a case and a motherboard and put together their own system .
That's possibly why you won't find many bios entrys
to "play around" with. ( some things are just set to fixed values and are not options in bios by the manufacturers due to the fact that theese systems is based on certain spesific add-ins)

If that makes any sense..
