hi, I got an old p 2 motherboard (PT-6IBD).
ones set up you get in to bios and it will scroll trough all the options and i can randomly press enter to get in to a option only to have it starting it again.
I made it an challenge and like to find out why?????
Can a virus do this?? I taken the battery out and back hoping it would fix it but not.
thanks for any help.

Hi Anna,

Sounds like a stuck key (or failing keyboard) like Freestone said.

Can it be caused by a virus? Yes, it can. If it is caused by a virus you're in trouble. However, you can have a friend download a BIOS upgrade for you and put it on a bootable floppy. That will, of course, only work if you can still setup you system to boot from a floppy.

I think this is the link you will need -check your MB manufacturer for BIOS upgrades first to make sure you don't use a wrong BIOS!! -Here's a link I found:

Anna;
Try a new CMOS battery as well,(3-4 yr lifespan) and if I get a stuck key error, I can clear it by viewing log and clearing the log in my BIOS "Mark events as read"(Old PII as well).I'm pretty sure this will be listed under DMI (Desktop Management Interface)in BIOS.
