Hello everyone!
I'm having problems with filtering records when using subforms.
My configuration is: MS Access 2000 Project connected to MSDE 2000.
Throughout the project I have many forms with subforms. No matter what kind of relationship exists between main form and subform(s) (possibly with a few leveles of nesting) I cannot make filters behave the way I want to.
Here is an example: a form with a subform in a one-to-many relationship, properly linked with each other, data additions, updates, deletions works perfectly, and there is no other problem whatsoever...except filtering
Every control on both forms is bound to corresponding field in a table.
When I click on Filter By Form I expect to be able to set filter on multiple controls, both on form AND subform. Main form displays drop-down boxes from which I can choose between every possible entry in the corresponding field in table, but subform does not! It only displays field values that were on that subform before I clicked Filter By Form.
Of course, I have no use of that behaviour since sometimes I want to filter only on fields on subform.
On the other side, if I open that subform alone, as a main form, the problem is no longer present, drop-down boxes display all possible values from which I can choose.
I experimented further and concluded that this problem only appears when main form and subform are linked using corresponding fields, which is exactly what I need in almost every case.
I tried to simulate the same situation in plain Access mdb database and the problem didn't appear ever, both form and subform always showed all table entries when filtering.
So either this is a Access to MSDE/SQL Server binding problem, or I'm missing something in the whole story.
Please help!
Thanks everyone.
