hi everybody, i don't know if i have a virus on my pc, but i have this problem, i have my hard disk, installed with win98, but yesterday i couldn´t get into windows, so i use a boot disk and type from the prompt, c:
then make a dir,, and instead of seeing the files names, i get smiles, grapchis, code, although i get the file size and dates, but i came to work and put my hard disk on another pc and it work perfect, so i don't know what is happening, maybe a memory virus??

Could be a virus but it could also be a bad head in your removeable drive at home. Can you clean the heads? What happens when you format a disk on one machine, can you then read it on another? If not, your heads may not be in alignment.

In case it is a virus, make certain that your antivirus programs are up to date and you have a very good backup of both machines.
