I have a filename caled lincoln'.sge and I want to perform a mv command on it and it won't let me, how do I fix this.

Brian,

I don't have a UNIX box in front of me at the moment so....

try:

mv lincoln\'.sge lincoln.sge

and

mv "lincoln'.sge" lincoln.sge

make sure that lincoln.sge doesn't already exist please. Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.

If its the only file with a .sge extention you could simply do this

mv *.sge lincoln.sge

This would only work if there are no other files in that directory with .sge extenstions.
