Problem with file not found on web

Hi all,
I'm extremely new to UNIX. I've read a decent tutorial on unix commmands and setting permission and such but I'm having trouble getting my web page to work.

I am building a website to repace a current one. I uploaded the new html files to the server and set the permissions the same as the existing website html files but when I go to a browser to try to open the new pages, I just get a file not found 404 error. As far as I can tell, my html files are exactly the same in terms of settings as the old html files so I'm stumped as to what to do.

Any input?
