Problem With Field Type

I set up a query to a Visual Foxpro DB in Crystal XI.
I am having an issue with one of the fields not populating all values from the DB. I believe the issue has to do with the field type in Crystal as it is labeled as a 'Number' type, and the data that is not populating in the report are character strings. Is there a way I can change the field type in Crystal so that all data comes through not just numeric data, or is there some other step I need to take?

I queried the same table in excel and it worked fine - all data came across.

Hi,
Crystal determiknes the type from the dataabse itself, or based on the first record returned ( I think) if it cannot 'read' the metadata for that database..

You can try and create a formula that converts the data to strings and use that instead of the actual field in your report.

In Oracle, the data type is long and contains a very long text paragraph. THe crystal report however only displays a portion of the field.
Is there anything special about crystal report displaying a long datatype? I am using crystal report 9.0 and I am a very new beginer on crystal report.
The max limit of lines are set to 0 and Can grow is checked.
Any help would be appreciated.
