Problem with fbackup on DDS4 drive

Hi,
I seem to have a problem with my DDS4 tape drive. When going into backup and recovery in SAM I receive the following message
SAM internal error.
The error handler has gotten the error code 1 of type NOTE with the
associated strings:
0/0/1/0.3.0
HP C5683A

The backup didn't run last night, although I have tried writing, reading and recovering from a fresh tape today with no problem. Has anyone seen this message before or have any ideas what the problem may be?

Are you running version 11 of HP , if so have you got the following patch installed patch PHCO_23876 , becuase SAM did not support c5683a tape drive

Unfortunately I don't look after the server generally, the man who does is on holiday so I have no idea what patches are applied to the server. However it is version 11. How can I check what patches I have, is it through checking the installed software in SAM? If so then I don't think the patch is installed.

Okay I managed to find the information using swlist -l patch. We have the patch you mentioned installed. Anybody have any other ideas? SOL

login as root , type in

swlist | grep PHCO_23876 ( nb PHCO in caps )

if it is loaded you'll get list displayed .
This can be downloaded from the hp site. I don't think it your system needs a reboot once applied.

you can try the most recent patch which is PHCO_25902
for the same problem , and fixes it according to the patch details i.e this is taken from patch details

22) If a C5687A or C5683A 40GB DDS Data Compression Tape Drive is present on the system, the Backup and Recoveryarea of SAM may produce an error of the form:
