Last night, my older brother (you think he'd be wiser than to do something like this), but he just snapped the PC off simply because the CDROM was horsing around and created a stream of error messages. When I tried to reboot, it said that Windows was not shutdown properly....run Scandisk, blahblahblah. But Scandisk got stuck at 2%, kicked me to the prompt, told me there was a FAT problem that prevented it from continuing the scan and attempted to continue booting but got stuck again and couldn't even finish its error message. I tried running Scandisk from DOS and it stopped at 14%. I would like to try Norton Disk Doctor, it has worked psuedo-miracles in the past for me and severly damaged disks, but I stupidly compressed my entire Norton Utilities in a self-extracting zip file that needs windows to run. Can any of you give a copy of the DOS NDD.EXE?

goto the company's website, and get it off there, we cant just give a product, also might want to note the exact error messages it gives you. also we cant support piracy here(and yes we know you are since you have it ziped up) also check the scandisks options, /? and what not. <p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.8m.com>kb244@kb244.8m.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in : C++(both VC++ and Borland),VB1(dos) thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, HTML, Visual InterDev 6(ASP(WebProgramming/Vbscript)<br>

I originally got the NU with the computer and I zipped everything up during a backup exercise. I was not trying to encourage piracy. So anyway, I managed to get the NDD.EXE out but all it did was rescue the section of the hard drive that I couldn't access. It couldn't fix the error itself. Oh, and the error message stated that one of the VXD files was corrupt, if that helps. I also tried to reinstall Win98 but it couldn't read the CAB files, tried to run Scandisk and failed just like before. So I decided to wipe my old hard drive, copy the setup files to the old drive and install 98 on it. But my uncle didn't send the book that came with the Win98 CD so I don't have the Product Key to continue the installation process. I e-mailed him since requesting the key but I haven't gotten a reply yet. Any more ideas?

even if you wernt encourage pirating, we still couldnt have given it to you, btw do you have other Operating Systems, like Linux, and what not? <p>Karl<br><a href=mailto:kb244@kb244.8m.com>kb244@kb244.8m.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>Experienced in : C++(both VC++ and Borland),VB1(dos) thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, HTML, Visual InterDev 6(ASP(WebProgramming/Vbscript)<br>

Just DOS 6.22 and 7. I have access to the BeOS but I can't connect it to the network because I can't get into Windows. And I can't find this utility diskette I had DOS networking drivers on. Don't worry I'm not gonna ask you for them. I just have to look better for that darn diskette.

I got the Product Key for another copy of Win98 and was able to get into Windows. Scandisk for Windows was able to fix the FAT problem but I haven't tried to boot from that hard drive yet, so wish me luck, man.<br><br><br>P.S. I never did find that utility diskette.
