Hello forum.

Some strange thing started to happen after I connected FastRAD to my phones system. External callers instead of getting to the voicemail are getting fax kinda signal...

Did you see something like that?

Thanks,
Yuri.

Yuri,
The fast rad is answering the line. Despite your programmed settings. I've seen this often. Don't know if there is a patch or fix. I usually change the settings to a line higher than the customer owns and change the rings to 12 then tell the thing not to answer. I primarily use operater assist when dialing in. Try mucking with the programing to get the Rad to change itself.

PhM

How do I find out what is the RAD's line/DN?

Thanks.

Yuri,
You need to enter Fastrad programming remotely NRU or from a Norstar set F9*0. Your Fastrad will show up as fast rad in Maintenance.

PhM

That's what I did when I installed it.

But I didn't see the DN or line settings.

Yuri,
Hey. Thanks for the vote! Not sure if I deserve it this time.
What logical port and what kind of system did you plug this into?

PhM

The system is Norstar 0x32 (4.1 software).
The logical port? Well if you mean the computer port it is connected to is COM2

Yuri,
No. Which port on the KSU did you terminate the Fastrad on. Are you on site?
PhM

Yuri,
Sorry was too many F8xx's . I was incorrect. You need to dial F9** from a two line phone. Then go to the right hand soft key, then program from there the line and number of rings to answer (or not) If the fast rad looks like it is programmed correctly follow idea in 1st post above to get RAD away from line.
There. Didn't deserve vote today.

PhM

OK here is what I have after F9**
DATA:
- Autoanswer on
Answer Line 001
Answer Delay 18
Local Baud 9600

ALARM:
Auto Report on
Report Line 001
Alarm Number 1
Number Retries 5
Retry Delay 15
Alarm Baud high
Parity None

So if I will change Alarm.AutoReport to off and Data.AutoAnswer to off should it do the trick?

Thanks,

Yuri

Yuri,
Yes. Change Auto answer to off, change baud rate to 19k, change auto report to off and change line to be answered to 15. Your Fastrad will not answer a line automaitically. You can still be transfered to it by an attendant. If you are using it to report alarms, set the thing to dial out on another line that 001. Same if you really have to have it answer remotely, set it for another line,,, say 002. You would get to it by using one phone to make 001 busy ringing from outside, while dialing in again so 002 rings. But again set the answer delay out to 12 or so.
What is the purpose for this RAD?

Cheers
PhM

OK... Changed it.
Here are current settings:
DATA:
- Autoanswer off
Answer Line 015
Answer Delay 12
Local Baud 19200

ALARM:
Auto Report off
Report Line 002
Alarm Number 1
Number Retries 5
Retry Delay 12
Alarm Baud high
Parity None

Is it what you meant?

By the way what is Alarm Number 1, Alarm Number 2...
And what is Num Retries in Alarm section...

I'm using NRU 9.0 to administer the system. So the guy is for setting lines and DNs...
Thanks for help,
Yuri

Yuri,
That was the intent of my thoughts. It will at least stop the Fast Rad from answering when you don't want it to. I have had fast rads answer when they shouldn't but only on the line programed. So I usually use the 'operator assisted' connection method. This works best for my customers anyway as most with fast rads all use some form of AA on all their llnes. I havn't yet penetrated the secrets of the AA answer system.

PhM

Yuri,
Check out post on AA and Fastrad 2 Nov 2002.

Thanks a lot for your help..
Promise to ask more intelligent questions next time :)

Yuri.

Yuri,
We all get goofed with telephone stuff. The hardest thing to do is work on your own with no other tech available to discuss problems with. Anybody as says otherwise needs exlax.

Cheers
