Hi,
I am using XP Pro sp2 and thought I got a virus when my stupid cat whizzed on the keyboard. I reformatted the c drive OS and after i replaced the keyboard found that the
Thermaltake BlacX Duet eSATA Dual Hard Drives Docking Station was no longer being recognized so I couldn't see or access the 2 hard drives i have docked in it.
the eSata goes through a PCI eSata adapter card and i found that the darn card isn't being recognized. when i went thru the hardware info i saw there were no drivers. i tried to install drivers but still no luck.

Is there something I can do to get the O.S. to recognize the darn card so i can use the external dock again ? ? ?

Pleasehelp I'm a hardware guy not a software dude........

well what is the esata card? the duet can be hooked up through usb also, so you should still be able to get it to work, just slower. at least until you figure out why the driver won't load for the esata card. I would remove it from the system, boot into windows, then put the card into a different slot if able, and try to install the latest drivers from the maker of the pci card.

You should also upgrade to sp3.

Yeah, SP3 is definite. Also, if you're going to pull the PCI card out anyway, what I'd do (particularly if what driver I'm trying won't work) is to write down any identifying names, numbers, codes from the PCI card, and then put it back in... then go online, and search for those codes, see if a search brings up a better driver. I've used this in particular for older hardware. Sometimes you'll find a better driver from the chipset manufacturer than from the the whole-card manufacturer.

You ignored her too long...

First of all, does the Device Manager show the device? if Yes, then double click on the device and then under the TAB named DETAILS, then the Drop Down Menu >> HardwareID, write down the VEN&DEV numbers, e.g. VEN_8086&DEV_1F55. With these numbers (the whole string) you can do a GOOGLE search for the latest driver...
