Problem With Epson 890/1280

I have an Epson 890 printer (they say it uses the same print head as the Epson 1280). When I print a page it adds lines to the design (the design doesn't have streaks in it - it's more like the printer ADDS lines around the design and also on the design itself. I have the printer set on heavy paper, and have tried various modes in the driver. I've tried doing a head cleaning, but that doesn't help. The printer has seen very little use. Can anyone help?
