Problem with Dos 1

I have an estimating program that runs through dos. My O/S is Windows 2000 Professional and thats running on a IBM Think Pad Laptop. The program was running full screen up until one day. Now what happens is dos runs in the center of the screen minimized and the background is blacked out. It looks like when you boot the computer up in safe mode. I went to Microsoft's web page and read the faqs there, but nothing they suggested worked. ie: change buffer sizes from 50 to 25, using ALT-ENTER to switch back and forth, ect. If anyone has run into this issue please let me know any ideas would be great.

Right click on the application and go to properties. In the Shortcut Tab go to the RUN box and select Maximized. Does that help? James Collins

Yes I tried that too. What's strange is that it was full screen one day and the next day it's was running minimized. The user of the system said all they did was shut down the computer and removed it from the docking station.

In the properties of the program can you not change it to run maximized instead of in a window.

Did they change the display resolution?
I have found this can affect things like this.

win2000 will run different hardware profiles depending on wheather it is in and out of a docking station. display resolution is almost always changed.

When you effect the display properties for the command prompt, you are asked if you want to effect the current session or all sessions. If you want the full screen behavior to repeat, you must set the option to effect all sessions.

have you tried starting the DOS program from the CMD line (in fullscreen-mode) to see if that works correctly? Please let Tek-Tips members know their posts were helpful. Thanks!

Thank you all for your ideas. I have figured out the probmlem. When the laptop was taken out of the docking station before the IBM Think Pad option defaulted back to normal, so i had to go into Think Pad options and just set full screen to enable. Thank you all again
