Problem with distiller 7.0

When I try to shrink the file size of a jpeg using distiller, I get the following error message.

%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Distiller is a PostScript interpreter. It won't be able to shrink JPEGs for you. The error is Distiller saying "this JPEG stuff isn't PostScript."
