One of the users on our exchange server has two email addresses. When he receives email to his secondary user and tries to respond, he always gets a message back after several hours that the email has been delayed. If he were to create a new message, it goes through without a problem. Any ideas on how to correct this?

Actually, it does, which is really confusing.

Ok so lets concentrate on one of the email addresses you have had problems sending to.

What happens if the user sends this person a new email message?

What happens if you send this person a new email message?

Thanks.

If the user sends the person a new email, it goes through. If I send the user a new email, it goes through. If either of us sends a reply, it does not go through, but returns with a undeliverable with the following:
Could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator.

We have one public IP address and do not have a reverse DNS. I have been working to get that changed.

Ok, well that is interesting as I have seen similar problems with customers who didn't have correct reverse DNS, I wonder if the fact that you have no reverse DNS is the issue here.

I suspect it might be as some mail systems will delay or reject mail if the reverse DNS isn't correct.

I think this is something you should look at as I suspect this isn't a local Exchange issue.

Thanks for the input. I have it running, should take about a day to sync, then will test.
