I'm finding this (on-going) problem very frustrating so any help would be greatly appreciated. This has happened to me a couple of times so today when I tried it I was very careful to process all 3 changes the same way. So here's the problem.

I wanted to change (under) User Fields, User 7 to ED, User 8 to Admin and User 9 to Admin 2. I went to Tools then Define Fields, selected (by clicking on) User 7 then selected Edit fields, then changed the name to ED and clicked on Finish. I repeated the procedure for User 8 and User 9. Well after finsihing the name (field label) had changed for User 7 and User 8 but not User 9. Well I was very careful when processing but I though maybe I did make a mistake so I went back to tool, Define fields and went to select User 9 but it wasn't there but Admin 2 was. So why is it showing here but it is still showing as User 9 on the contact view. HELP this is driving me crazy!! I'm using Act! version 9 on a single PC..Peter in Winnipeg

Throughout this whole process, have you edited your layout at all? Be sure that ACT is displaying the proper fields on your contact layout. Also make sure that you are displaying the proper layout. Edit layouts by going to Tools | Design Layouts | Contact/Group/Company (Contact for this purpose).

Change layouts by clicking the Layout button at the very lower left corner of the ACT window.

Thanks for your response. Yes I have changed the layout but that not the problem, to clarify I changed 3 user names (User 7, User 8, and User 9) one after the other and only two of the three had the names change on the label. I know I can (and have) changed the label name but I just find it very frustrating that when I process all three the same way that only two of the names (labels) changed.

In the layout, you can use the field name or a text lable.

If using the Field Name, it will change - it a text label, you need to modify the layout also
