Problem with Date filters when drilling down from a PP Report to an Im 1

Hi Everybody,

I am new to Cognos and I am having a hard time figuring out the problem with the Date filter when drilling down from a cube (PP Report) to an impromptu report.

In my cube I have measure called Date which is based on the Invoice Date. Wht I would like to do is from the PP Report or Cube, when i select a customer and apply the date filter (year = 1995) I want to open up the impromptu report to see all the Invoices for the customer where year = 1995. I heared that Transformer or PP treats the year 1995 as [1995-01-01,1995-12-31]. When I try to drill down to the impromptu report, I am getting the error saying "SOME OF THE FILTER INFORMATION WAS DROPPED AND MAY AFFECT TOATLS AND CALCULATIONS" and when i check the details, it says Filters excluded are: "INVOICEDATE=[1995-01-01,1995-12-31]"

I tried all the ways I know but couldn't resolve the problem. Pls help with this issue. I am sure this won't be a major issue for u experts.

Your date field in your PP Report, or cube, must be named identical (case sensitive) to your date field in your Impromptu Report.
Not sure why you have a Date measure in your Cube. The Invoice Date dimension is what should be passed to your report.

Hi,

sorry it was a typping mistake. The Date which is based on the Invoice Date is a Dimension, not a measure. Thanks for your suggestion with identical names. Finaly i removed the Date from the Dimenison and recreated it by specifying it as a general type (general or Time) and created cal columns for year, quarter and month. Its working now even if its a complicated way.
