I am attempting to make some new DR disks for a server running WinNT 4.0 with Arcserve 2000 (SP4). I am working my way through the wizard that creates the disks, I can create the first 4 disks but when I come to create the 5th disk (I think its the one you label Arcserve DR Disk) it says there was an error writing to disk. Its not the floppy I am using as that works fine on other machines and I dont think is the FD drive as its managed to create the other disks.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks,

Caroline

Have you applied the service pack 4 to the DR option?

If so, this could be your problem. There was a problem with some of the modified files which mean there is not enough room on the disk to create the files.

Remove the SP and the problem should go away.

As far as I know, there has not been a fix for this problem.

I have seen a problem like that similarly in the past. I got around it by formatting the floppy that is giving you the problem on the machine where you are trying to created the boot kit from. It's easy and worth a shot.

Thanks for the advice that worked a treat. I have created my disks now. :-D

I am not sure if I have SP4 for the DR option, what build does it bring it up to? Even though the advice from fritz4000 worked I am interested in knowing what SP is installed as I have inhereted this system so I wanst around when the software was installed.

If I havent got the SP installed do you recommend installing it, or does it cause more problems that it solves? [ponder]

Thanks,

Caroline

Hi Caroline,

Glad to hear you got your problem resolved :)

If your not having any problems with the DR procedure, then I would refrain from install the SP just now.

It does address some issues, but can also create some more. Particularly with the modified files not fitting on the floppy disk in certain DR configurations.

Sjrh,

I think that I will leave well alone for now as everything seems to be running fine at the moment.

Thanks for the advice,

Caroline
