I am using a 3rd Party Application to view/alter a MySQL DB. I am rather new to this, but I have been able to install MySQL, and MyODBC. I currently have connected successfully with MySQL-From and WinMySQLAdmin 1.4. My 3rd Party applicationm I want to use, allows me to connect to the MySQL DB (I have a test DSN button and it accepts. I know it works for I can make it fail). The problem after that is that the tables do not populate the screen. Is there any reasons anyone can think of (MySQL setting wise), that I may be having difficulties here? To recap, I believe my connection is good, but it must not be communicating as expected for the 3rd Party App.

what username are you using???
does this username have rights to do anything???
have you tried using the root username

Sorry, yes I am using root. I have since upgraded to the newer 3.5X MyODBC driver, and it appears that now I sort of connect. The developer of the 3rd party application seems to think the problem is due to MyODBC driver or other settings not following with their expectation of ADO 2.7 compliance. Does anyone know if there are any changes that might be of this affect?

Have you tried using any other 3rd party package to connect to MySql.
MySQL front is free, is very good and relatively easy to use (although dis-continued). It also does not use MyODBC.

Is it still available, unfortunately I don't have the address but if you do a search for it on this site you will find the URL.

Hope this helps

I am already using 2 front end GUI for MySQL. The 3rd party app I am using is for a special purpose I cannot divulge. The app says it is ADO 2.7 compliant, and from the 20 so other DB Types I have connected to it works fabulously. It is just MySQL that it fails, and I am not sure if I have set up the MySQL correctly.
