I have an HP Office Jet K60 printer. I just bought a brand new color cartridge and inserted it into the printer. I got an error message that read: "remove and check color cartridge". I have removed and checked the color cartridge at least eight (8) times - and I still get the error message. Please note that this is a new cartridge that I purchased at Office Depot. The cartridge "replaces HP78" and is labeled:
OD78D.

The strange thing about this is that even with the error message, I can still use Word and Netscape and print in color!!!

Please help.

stupid question.. did you remove the plastic strip on the bottom of the cartridge?

...when all else fails use an HP cartridge...

Four things to check... 1.Dirty contacts on the cartridge? 2.Dirty contacts in the printer carriage? Clean with plain water to remove ink. 3. Not held tightly in the carrage due to damage to the cartidge or the hold down lever? (may require service) 4.Printer is actually detecting failure of the print head (Much more likely with a non-original HP cart)My guess is you have a faulty carrtidge.
