Hello,

I have a strange problem with my reports that contain charts. Each time I open a report the chart shifts its position to the left. It gets to the point where the data starts getting cut off on the left hand side.

I position and size my charts by right clicking on the chart and choosing "Object Size and Position". But maybe that's not right?

Has anyone else ever had this problem, and if so how did you fix it?

I appreciate any information.
Thanks in advance! :)

Carla: As you say 'Twilight Zone' stuff this one! Can you detail for us the version of CR you you are using and the procedure you are adopting which results in your charts sloping off for a nap! David C. Monks

Thanks so much for responding to my post. I can't find any documentation on this. I am using version 8.

As far as procedure I use all of the normal methods to pull data from my database to create the report then use the chart expert to display the information. My chart is inserted into the Report Header along with my title and company logo (both of which do not move with the chart). Then when I open up the chart again to do some work on it, it has shifted to the left. The only other point to note is that the reports are also available for other employees to view over the web. I don't know if that has anything to do with it although I have noticed some other quirky things about viewing reports over the web.

Thanks again for trying to help!

You're not alone! This is the only weak area with CR! There's alot of different tricks you can do for this, I think in your case you might want to check the following...
The ACTUAL CHART in the viewer is based on the SELECTION/SIZING BORDERS of the chart AREA in designer, and not by the chart size itself.

As for the size of the actual chart within these borders, you can use chart analyzer, (all this goes for the legend as well if you're using one).

Hopefully I explained this so you can understand.

Carlxxx, I am not quite sure what you mean. To clarify, should I be resizing my chart with the Selection/Sizing Borders instead of using "Object Size and Position"? Will that remedy the shifting problem?

Thanks for responding to my post!
I appreciate your input :)
