Problem with ATA

I am trying to connect an ATA to an analog trunk port on a lab system that I have so I can test the ports. The ATA is connected to the BCM 400 running in our office. I have tested with analog devices and it is working fine. When I conenct it to the analog trunk port, the outbound calling is working perfectly, but when I try to dial the extension or the DID associated with the extension, the call rings once and then hears dial tone again? What could be going on? FYI, I know the analog port on the lab system is good because I connected a POTS line and tested perfectly.

Well basically I am trying to avoid having to pay for POTS lines to connect to my lab systems that are used for training and testing. So I am trying to use the ATA as a replacement for actual analog trunks

OK .... Thought you might be going down that path.
I've used this setup a couple of times on Norstar to provide RAD access via Auto Attendant.
Connect digital side of ATA to a station port.
Connect analog side of ATA to an unused trunk port.
Configure RAD to answer that trunk.
Dial up to AA and input the DN that is connected to the trunk port ... bada bing, RAD access via AA.

So ... how do you have yours setup?

Digital Side of ATA to station port
Analog side to trunk port
Trunk port assigned to ring at a single extension

Would that not work?

I would think it should work!

Dialing from any digital set to the DN of the port on the ATA should pass through to the trunk port attached should then ring the set with the Line Assignment.

That was exactly what I thought but it just rings once and then I get dial tone. If I try to dial again it disconnects me.
