I cannot seem to get the ssl implimentation to work. I compiled the built-in mod_ssl into the apache installation by using the compiletime switches: --enable-ssl --with-ssl.

NOTE: I had openssl installed beforehand.

I created the keyfile and cert for the FQDN and set up the virtualhost in ssl.conf.

I run the apachectl startssl command and get the prompt for the passcode. Fine. Then I issue the ps -ax command to see if the httpd daemon is running and whether or not ssl is running alongside. This is what I see:

19113 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd -k start -DSSL
19114 ? S 0:00 [httpd]
19115 ? S 0:00 [httpd]
19116 ? S 0:00 [httpd]
19117 ? S 0:00 [httpd]
19118 ? S 0:00 [httpd]

Great. Then I try to navigate to and get a "cannot be found" page. However, the regular site comes up, no problem.

Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this or what may be the problem?

I appreciate any help with this!

Update: I checked my logfile and find this:

[Mon May 19 17:51:58 2003] [error] [client 192.168.1.1] Invalid method in request L^A^C

Maybe that helps to troubleshoot...
