Hi

I'm having a problem with a combo box that has allow edit unticked but users can still add random text to it - how can I restrict it to only allow from list?

Thanks

What version of ACT!?
In ACT! 9, you need to also turn on "Limit to List"
In ACT! 6, I think it was "Only from Drop Down"
Also Edit just means they can't modify the drop-down... but still allows free text

Hi

Thanks for the response it's version 6 so doesn't limit to list.

Never mind.

Haven't used ACT! 6 for a while... was that correct?
Does that do what you're looking for?

It still allows the user to type in anything and ignores the combo box - doens't do limit to list in a way the newer versions do, I guess the only way would be to lock the field and only allow drop down but I don't know how to do that in version 6.0

I thought OfDD check box did that... it might not work for all field types. Is this a char field (if not, what)?

Is it a newly created field, or did you use a field already there (which)?

Remember, it won't effect data already in the field.

I might have to load it again and check... but certain this option worked.

From:
Only from drop-down
This will require your users to select items from the drop-down when adding or modifying field data. If you set this option for a field such as Company, your users will be unable to add new Companies to your database. The database Administrator will still be able to edit the drop-down list, but Standard users will not be able to do so.
