well heres my problem, i have a Lucent/Agere winmodem it connects fine at 50kbps+ but when i open a game or another process that uses more then 90% system resources my modem starts to lose connectivity and will eventually force me offline. i realize that winmodems function by useing a portion of your processor time but even at 99% my cpu should have enough power left to run the modem.
Any help would be great, being disconnected whenever you play an online game is annoying as heck system specs are as follows
2.4ghzc pentium 4
512 pc3200 ddr dual channeled
soyo dragon plus 2 sy-p4i865pe mobo
maxtor 40gb ata133 hdd
radeon 8500le
one last thing if a game is useing up 50% of my HyperThreading cpu shouldnt the modem just use the other virtual cpu? or does winxp not support dual cpu's like that?
