We are having a problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 and Lotus Notes 6. When a PDF file is attached to a email a error occurs when attempting to open the file from Notes. We get an error “Unable to execute command”. We have tried re-associating the PDF Files to Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 but this does not seem to help. We do not have this problem with Acrobat 5.0 or 4.0.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't have any ideas, but have the same problem. However, I am using Notes 5.0.11. The problem began last week when I upgraded my Acrobat Reader from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2. I get an error message that says "Please install Notes Adobe Acrobat add-on to view this file." Anyone know what this is? Prior to the upgrade I was able to View and Launch the files from within Notes. Now I have to Detach and then open them. The file association is correct.

Not sure if this will work in all solutions, but I've just started getting this problem after installing the update to Adobe Acrobat Reader (from 6.0 to v6.0.1, I believe).

I previously had Adobe Acrobat Pro and Reader installed and using them with Lotus Notes v5.0.10 with no problems. After the Reader upgrade (it seemed like a good idea at the time) got the "Please install Notes Adobe Acrobat add-on to view this file." error.

Reinstalling the full version or reader didn't cure the problem.

The fix I found was to install Adobe Acrobat Reader v5.1 (filename AcroReader51_ENU_full.exe). The fix should work straight away - No need to shutdown Notes or reboot the PC. Which was nice.

After the install the error had disappeared and now when I view PDF's from Notes, it fires up the full version of Acrobat(instead of the reader - buy hey, I'm just glad it works) and I'm back to viewing the many, many, PDF's we have in the various Notes databases.

Hope this helps.
