Hello @all

I have a problem with a resource of a NIM (Network Installation Management) Server.
I've defined a lpp_source within the basic AIX 5.2 operating-system.
For an Update I have to play in all new .bff files
(e. g. from ML4) into the lpp_source.
I will overwrite the base source by this.
But this is what I don't want.
I've heard that you can set a hard link somewehre in your lpp_source and link this to the update files.
At least that I have my OS all the time,
and my updates in an extra construct.
Who can tell me where I've to set this link
and how to do the rest? Thanks a lot!
Best Regards
Oliver

In AIX 5.2 you can add additional packages to your lpp_source quite easily. Just go into the Manage Resources/Perform Operations On a Resource/ Update. You can then add them from either CD or hdisk.

Adding the updates will not overwrite the original filesets as these are still required for the initial install.

Their is also an option to clean up unneeded filesets that removes the un-necessary language files.
