Hi All,

Has anyone had the following issue?

I have a BCM50 R3, New install, about 20 1140E sets and 10 digital. 2 of the phones at the front reception desks have 1 KEM on each 1140 phone. There are several different tennants in the system and all use analog lines, I have the analog lines set up and named on the KEM modules. Since I have installed the system about a week ago, about twice a day the KEM's on both phones decide to move the first 4 line appearences to the phone and blank the first 4 keys on the KEM. The system is Patch current and several reboots have not fixed the problem. I have chnged the phones and KEMS, no luck.

Any ideas before I get stuck in Nortel support Hell?

Are you running off a (poe) switch? I found the KEM moduals need to have their own saps power supply to function right. This is just what I was told from an instructor so this is not personal experience.

I have them set up with power supplies. The rest of the phones are working off POE ports. I also noticed that the back light on the KEMs will not work unless you have a local power source plugged in.

I have the same problem with one of my customers and found out that Nortel knows about it, but no fix for it yet. So you should be in the clear until they get a patch for it.

This is from the bulletin:

ISSUE: The KEM on an IP set can lose line appearance programming if the BCM is reset, or loses power.
RELEASE: BCM50 R3 and BCM 4.0
CR: BCM4.0 - Q01730833-01, BCM50 R3 - Q01730833-02
SYMPTOMS: Line appearances are missing on the KEM. Line appearances previously on the KEM migrate to IP set.
WORKAROUND: None
STATUS: Design/Sustaining is actively working towards completion a solution. The BCM 4.0 solution will be delivered
before the BCM50 R3 solution.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Please contact Nortel Technical Support (NETS) organization and open a case if you believe you
have a system with any of the symptoms above. Nortel has released a bulletin to provide status and updates to this issue.
Please refer to bulletin 2008008833, entitled: Business Communication Manager (BCM) - Loss of IP KEM programming
on BCM reboot
