Hi

My wifes new Dell Studio laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit.

The problem is that when she is online as today using Firefox to fill out a state job recommendation form for a friend, the window suddenly scrolled all the way to the bottom and then you can not get it to stay scrolled back up.

You can drag it back up to the top but as soon as you let go of the scroll bar it pops back to the bottom (the same thing happens no matter how you scroll, mouse wheel, button or scroll bars)I had to reboot the computer to get it so that windows would scroll normally. she started over and had this happen 3 times trying to fill in the form.

The weird thing is that when I exited Firefox and went back to her E-Mail to get the link again, the client and other windows were doing the same thing until I rebooted.

She has had this problem on and off ever since we got the computer.

I switched her to Google Chrome from Firefox and she was able to fill out the form and get it sent.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this.
My wife has very little patience with computers.

Any help appreciated.

Mike

HI Ben

Thanks I'll give that a try.
It is a laptop but she is using a wireless USB mouse with it.

also check to see if you haven't pressed down the third button - which in many cases is pressing down on the scroll wheel. this will lock the scrolling to the movement of the mouse.

In windows 7 however it normally defaults to a visual task / application / window manager, but all depends on the setup / drivers etc.

Hi

Thanks for the help.

The next time it happens I'll try using the touch pad, never even thought of that.

I'll also try checking the battery, and I'll plug in a wired mouse and give that a try too.

As far as clicking the wheel, I did try and do that.
I thought that I might be able to get it to auto scroll back up but it wouldn't stay where I scrolled to. Once I stopped moving it, it popped back to the bottom again.
